NHVAS

McArdle’s have been an accredited operator in the National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme since 2006. This accreditation consists of 3 modules, Maintenance, Mass and Fatigue Management. This scheme involves continuous compliance with a strict set of business rules, both external and internal audits to verify rules are being complied with and quarterly compliance checks to update where required any issues that may be found. The fatigue module provides training to all drivers and managers/schedulers on the effects of fatigue and the ways it should be managed. Schedulers are trained in fatigue management to ensure that trip plans are not causing fatigue and give drivers adequate time for rest both whilst on trip and before their next trip.

WAHVA

(Fatigue WA) McArdle’s have recently become an accredited operator in the Western Australian Heavy Vehicle Accreditation fatigue module. This involves us complying with the standards as set out in the WAHVA fatigue module. This module has a similar setup to that of NHVAS with continuous auditing and verification of compliance with a set of business rules. This system shows that we as an employer understand the effects of fatigue and implement management systems to reduce the chances of our drivers becoming fatigued. It also shows our drivers are trained in fatigue, understanding the effects it can have and the ways it should be managed.
